Answer:
1) Does yourorganization address ethical issues in a formal, systematicway?
Whenlooking at how an organization addresses ethical issues, we musttake into account what kind of organizationwe are evaluating. When evaluating an organization, we must takeinto consideration thesize of the organization. In my experience, if we take a look at alarge organization that hasa lot of employees, they will probably have a predetermined set ofsteps and rules to follow whendealing with an ethical issue. This is due to the fact of having somany employees, it make iteasier for the human resources department to have a systematicapproach that covers everyonewithin the organization.
When iworked for a small firm, there was no system in place whatsoever, and in most cases raising a complaint would lead to cross talkwithin the firm, which is why most people would not raise any suchissues
But asopposed when I worked for a large organization, the entire processwas well thought of and stream lined which encourage people toraise issues
If so, is it a cookiecutter, one-size-fits all approach?
A one size fits all solution rarely works for solving problems, because companies differ in terms of scale, size, culture, infrastructure, etc.
Each company must plan around its limitations by eventually comeup with a solution that allows people to raise and tackle ethicialissues in a constructive manner, as long as that is done, the firmwill always stand to prosper
Has the organizationcustomized an ethical culture to match its unique needs? Pleaseexplain in detail
Culture exists in the space between what an organizationprofesses and what it does
Whilecorporate culture can be reflective of the core values of acompany, this usually only occurs only if the companyoperationalizes those values throughout theorganization.
I willtake an example of a financial firm, which is highly regulated bythe concept of a “Chinese Wall”
Achinese wall is this imaginary line, which does not allowinformation to flow from the “private side”to the “publicside”
Somany financial companies, create a culture where it not encouragedto talk to people from other divisions as it could create ethicialissues with compliance.
Sothat is an example of how company has altered the culture to meetethical standards
